Test Pilots from the Polar Bear Class
Hello to Everybody! Greetings from Heinrich-Böll-Schule.
We already managed the biggest challenge of this winter in Germany: the influenza. That’s the reason for the long silence. But now (almost) everybody is healthy again and we are able to start our Erasmus-Challenges :).
In our school we agreed, that our challenge should support the children to be part of a group and get fun by having success together. The first idea comes from Biancas class. These pupils are 9 to 11 years old and in the 4th grade.
Challenge of the Polar Bear Class
First phase: The pupils oft the polar bear class test and evaluate educational software. They acquire knowledge that enables them to coach pupils from other classes in using the educational software. The pupils intensively train the handling of a learning program, which promotes reading skills. They train the handling of the program, before they show the handling of the program to the pupils of their partner class.
The pupils have created a flipchart poster with notes on how to work with the learning program.
Second phase: At the large table in the computer room, the login and all other steps are explained using the flipchart poster.
One pupil of the polar bear class coaches one pupil of the partner class in dealing with the program.
After the coaching the pupils of the partner class learned first steps in the use of the computer and the presented program. All pupils seem to be satisfied, including the coaches. In the debriefing they say that the teamwork went well and was fun.
Polar Bear Class completed a fantastic challenge – what a great idea for teamwork!
