The Big Hook

Hi everyone!  We held our ‘big planning meeting’ for the theme of ‘Challenge’ before Christmas.  Each staff team had a ‘table top challenge’ to complete then give feedback  – information is below along with photographs from the evening – great fun was had by all.  Teachers have been busy planning the challenges for their pupils, to begin after the Christmas holidays, in January.  We will provide examples of planning and challenging activities later on in the New Year.  We hope you all had a restful Christmas!

Communication through time

Posted by in Time, Topics

The rocket class has had a really exciting time by exploring how people used to send messages in the past. Travelling through time they constructed drums and tin can-telephones and used morse codes. Of course they also sent messages by these and veriefied the different communication tools. They also tried communication by letter and telephone and had a lot of fun to find out how long the messages took to arrive at the addressees.

Feel the Rhythm

Posted by in Time, Topics

Making music needs a good feeling for timing. The Rocket Class practised a lot of timing and the pupils composed their own rhythm-composition. The Highlight was, of course, being on stage in front of all classmates and performing the own composition. Everybody could be very proud of their performance. Applause to all talented and brave musicians! Rocket class in concert:

Fossils – Witnesses of Time

The best we liked was the huge mammoth tooth, the shark tooth, which showed us that sharks used to grow up to 20m. Some of us were also very excited about the dinosaur eggshell.
